Islamabad Wildfires Brought Under Control by CDA After All-Night Effort
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) successfully controlled multiple wildfires in the Margalla Hills National Park after an overnight emergency operation. Fires were reported in the Golra Range and Bhara Kahu Range areas of Islamabad.
According to officials, the fires were brought under control late at night before they could spread further into protected forest zones. Authorities immediately launched firefighting operations to protect Islamabad’s natural environment.
More than 120 personnel from the CDA Environment Wing participated in the operation. Environment officials, field teams, and assistant commissioners continuously monitored the situation throughout the night.
Senior officers from the ICT Administration and CDA Environment Wing also remained present on-site following instructions from the CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad. Officials personally supervised the firefighting activities in affected areas.
CDA teams additionally assisted the Rawalpindi Forest Department in controlling a separate forest fire in the Tamiir forest area. Over 25 CDA personnel joined the operation to stop the spread of flames.
Reports confirmed that nearly 80 percent of the affected Tamiir forest area was successfully controlled during the joint firefighting effort. Cooling operations later started to prevent any possible re-ignition.
Authorities also stated that another fire incident at Londha Dara in the Golra Range was controlled successfully on Sunday morning. Around 48 Environment Wing officials participated in the operation.
The administration urged citizens not to throw cigarette butts, garbage, or glass bottles inside Margalla Hills National Park during the fire season. People were also advised to avoid bonfires and barbecues in forest areas.
CDA officials warned that all wildfire incidents would be investigated and strict legal action would be taken against anyone found responsible for causing forest fires in Islamabad.
Residents have also been asked to cooperate with authorities in protecting Margalla Hills and preserving Islamabad’s natural beauty during the ongoing dry season.
