Federal Government Announces Ashura Holidays 2026 Across Pakistan
The Federal Government has officially declared public holidays on June 25 and June 26, 2026, for the observance of Ashura. The announcement was made through a notification issued by the Cabinet Division.
The two-day holiday will be observed throughout Pakistan, allowing citizens to participate in Muharram processions, religious gatherings, and other commemorative activities.
Ashura is among the most significant events in the Islamic calendar and is observed every year by millions of Muslims. Religious events and processions are expected to take place across the country during the holidays.
Government offices, educational institutions, and many public-sector organizations are expected to remain closed on both days. Provincial administrations are also making arrangements to ensure security and smooth management of Muharram events.
Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and follow all security guidelines during the holiday period.
The announcement provides clarity for employees, students, and travelers planning their schedules during the last week of June.
