The federal government has announced a major reduction in petrol and diesel prices on the third day of Eid, providing significant relief to the public across Pakistan. The latest fuel price cut was confirmed through an official statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

According to the announcement, the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel have been reduced by Rs. 22.22 per litre. The decision comes amid ongoing efforts by the government to provide relief during rising inflation and economic pressure.

After the latest reduction, petrol prices in Pakistan have dropped from Rs. 403.78 to Rs. 381.56 per litre. Similarly, high-speed diesel prices have been reduced from Rs. 402.78 to Rs. 380.56 per litre nationwide.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated that public relief remains one of the government’s top priorities. Officials said the government had promised to reduce fuel prices whenever fiscal space became available, and that commitment has now been fulfilled.

The statement further added that the government has consistently worked to reduce the financial burden on citizens. Authorities said previous relief measures were also introduced last week when petroleum prices were lowered earlier.

Officials highlighted that Pakistan managed to maintain stable fuel supplies during periods of global energy crises. While several countries faced severe shortages and fuel lines, Pakistan ensured the availability of petroleum products through timely interventions.

The PMO also stated that during previous spikes in international oil prices, the government absorbed major subsidy costs to prevent even higher domestic fuel prices. According to officials, consumers received relief worth over Rs. 130 per litre during different periods.

Economic experts believe the latest reduction in fuel prices may lower transportation costs and provide broader relief in inflation across goods and services. Public transport, delivery services, and logistics sectors are also expected to benefit from the new rates.
